Working principle
The adsorption of molecular sieve desiccant is a chemical process. The main reason for adsorption is the "surface force" generated by the molecular gravity acting on the solid surface. When the fluid flows through, some molecules in the fluid collide with the adsorbent surface due to irregular motion, resulting in molecular concentration on the surface and reducing the number of certain molecules in the fluid, thus achieving the purpose of separation and removal.
Common types
3A molecular sieve desiccant: mainly used for adsorbing small molecules such as water, commonly used for drying ethanol, air, refrigerants, etc., can prevent the moisture in these substances from affecting their performance. For example, in some chemical production processes that require high-precision drying, 3A molecular sieve can effectively remove trace amounts of moisture from raw materials, ensuring product quality.
4A molecular sieve desiccant: with slightly larger pore size, it can adsorb not only water but also other small molecules such as ammonia and hydrogen sulfide. In the field of air purification, it can simultaneously remove moisture and harmful gases from the air, improving air quality.
5A molecular sieve desiccant: with larger pore size, it can adsorb substances with larger molecules, such as n-alkanes, and is commonly used in the separation and purification of hydrocarbon mixtures in the petrochemical industry.
application area
Chemical industry: used for drying and purifying various chemical products, such as dehydration treatment of gases, liquid organic compounds, etc., to ensure product quality and smooth production processes. In the production process of olefins such as ethylene and propylene, molecular sieve desiccants can be used to remove moisture from the feed gas and prevent adverse effects in subsequent polymerization reactions.
Petroleum industry: Drying and purifying petroleum cracking gas, natural gas, etc. to remove impurities such as water, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, etc., improve the quality and safety of gas, and prevent pipeline corrosion.
Pharmaceutical industry: Used for drying raw materials, intermediates, and finished products in the pharmaceutical production process to ensure the stability and quality of drugs. For example, in the production of some antibiotics, molecular sieve desiccants can be used to remove moisture from drugs and prevent drug degradation.
Electronics industry: Used for moisture prevention of electronic products, such as in the production and storage of integrated circuits, semiconductor devices, etc., placing molecular sieve desiccants can absorb moisture from the air and prevent electronic products from being damaged by moisture.
