- Rapid Temperature Drop of Raw Material Balls: After emerging from the production kiln, the rapid cooling of raw material balls (quick desander) fails to stabilize their structure. Coupled with hot weather, urgent granulation may trigger activation during the granulation process, directly leading to shedding of finished balls.
- Improper Activation Temperature: The ideal activation temperature is 80–120°C. If the temperature is too high or too low, it will cause peeling. Therefore, heat dissipation is required during activation in summer, while thermal insulation is needed in winter.
Measures to Prevent Shedding
Preventive measures focus on the temperature control of raw materials, activation temperature, and time to address shedding issues:
- Temperature Control of Raw Materials:
- Do not immediately process the newly produced quick desander for granulation. Instead, store the calcined quick desander from the kiln in a silo first, and proceed with granulation after the temperature drops.
- Activation Process Control:
- When semi-finished activated alumina balls enter the activation stage, strictly control the activation temperature (80–120°C) and duration (8–12 hours).
