Molecular Sieve
Product Introduction: Molecular sieve 3A, also known as molecular sieve KA, with an aperture of about 3 angstroms
Molecular formula: 0.4K2O · 0.6Na2O · Al2O3 · 2.0SiO2 · 4.5H2O

Product Description

Precision Potassium-Form Selective Adsorbent

Molecular Sieve 3A (Type A Potassium Form - KA)

Synthesized via advanced alkali-metal ion exchange to achieve a uniform 3-angstrom pore opening. It selectively traps moisture and polar impurities while completely excluding hydrocarbons and larger organic molecules, making it the industry standard for deep dehydration in petrochemical, cryogenic, and high-purity fluid systems.

Effective Pore Size
~ 3 Angstroms (3A)
Crush Strength
≥ 60 – 120 N/particle
H₂O Equilibrium Capacity
≥ 21.0 wt%
Attrition & Dusting Loss
≤ 0.10 wt% (High Durability)

Potassium Ion-Exchange & Molecular Exclusion Mechanics

Type 3A molecular sieve is produced by substituting sodium ions within a Type A zeolite crystal lattice with larger potassium ($K^+$) ions. This precisely reduces the effective internal pore diameter to approximately 3 angstroms.

Because of this exact molecular gatekeeping, moisture ($2.6 Å$) and ammonia enter the internal cavities freely, while larger molecules like propane, propylene, ethanol, and fluorinated refrigerants are strictly excluded. This eliminates co-adsorption losses, suppresses undesirable side reactions, and ensures maximum purification efficiency during continuous thermal swings.

Comprehensive Application Sectors

Petrochemical Olefin & Cracked Gas Drying

Deep dehydration of reactive unsaturated hydrocarbons—including ethylene, propylene, butadiene, acetylene, and various refinery gas streams—without causing co-adsorption or acid-catalyzed oligomerization side reactions.

Insulating Glass (IG) Units & Edge Seals

Employed inside window spacer matrices and secondary structural sealants to scavenge residual moisture and organic volatile vapors, successfully eliminating internal fogging and thermal condensation.

Polar Liquid & Solvent Dehydration

Advanced water removal from highly polar organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, and various industrial alcohols where larger organic molecules must remain completely unentrapped.

Refrigerant & HVAC System Purging

Integrated into closed-loop refrigeration filter-driers to deeply dehydrating CFC, HFC, and HCFC refrigerants, preventing acid formation, ice clogging, and compressor mechanical breakdown.

Natural Gas & Acid Gas Sweetening Prep

Used as an upstream pre-dryer or collaborative guard bed in natural gas processing plants to strip trace water down to sub-ppm levels before deep cryogenic fractionation or sweetening stages.

Static Desiccant Packaging & Electronics

Deployed in specialized medical containers, pharmaceutical packaging, and electronic enclosures where strict localized humidity control is critical to prevent component corrosion or hydrolytic degradation.
